Login Requests

How do I create an account?

Setting up your account could not be easier and will only take a couple of minutes. Simply register then complete your details and hit create account. You will then receive an email for you to verify your account. Creating an account has many benefits including speedier checkout, access to past orders and quotes and smart ordering.

Should you want to include purchases of Chemicals or apply for a credit account, please contact us and our friendly sales team will be able to advise what documentation is required. Once this has been activated on your account by our sales team, you will then have access to these facilities for future orders.

I have forgotten my login details

No problem, it happens. Simply sign in followed by forgot your password. You will then receive an email to the registered account, providing a link to reset your password.

How do I receive a copy of your latest product Catalogue?

We launched our new catalogue in September and you can request a copy here, or as part of our commitment to reducing paper usage, you can view our online catalogue here.

You can of course view our full range of products and order online via our website 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Where does SciChem deliver to?

We provide a range of delivery options to UK Mainland and Northern Ireland and Isle of Wight.

What are SciChem’s delivery charges?

Free delivery for all orders over £100.00 (UK mainland) (excluding vat and Hazardous Chemical Delivery Surcharge). Orders below £100.00 are subject to £7.50 carriage and packing charge. Most orders placed before 2pm will be dispatched the same day.

Ireland

Free delivery for all orders over €200.00 (excluding vat and Hazardous Chemical Delivery Surcharge). Orders below €200.00 are subject to a maximum €15.00 carriage and packing charge.

Isle of Man, Scottish Highlands, Channel Islands and Scilly Isles

Free delivery for all orders over £200.00 (excluding vat and Hazardous Chemical Delivery Surcharge). Orders below £200.00 are subject to a maximum £25.00 carriage and packing charge.

What is Shaw Scientific’s delivery charge?

Other Carriage Charges

Certain living products are subject to an additional carriage charge. We also reserve the right to charge carriage and packing for certain larger products which may be delivered directly from the manufacturer.

What will be required upon delivery?

When accepting deliveries by carrier or our own transport please check you sign for the correct number of boxes as discrepancies cannot be resolved afterwards.
We can only supply chemicals to trade users and professionals and only on receipt of official orders.

Can I order during Holiday and Shutdown periods?

When placing orders before shutdown periods please let us know whether you are able to receive deliveries during the closed or shutdown periods. We always assume you are open unless you advise us. Rejected deliveries may incur an extra delivery charge.

What is SciChem and Shaw Scientific’s returns policy?

Please contact our Customer Services team prior to returning goods. Goods returned by the customer without prior authorisation will not be credited. Please provide us with the following information:

  • Customer name and address, and account number
  • Contact name and telephone number
  • Reason for return of goods

Goods ordered in error or goods returned in a damaged state will be subject to a restocking charge as stated below and a credit is only given at our discretion. Please note that such goods are to be returned at the customer’s expense. If a carrier has to be arranged for collection a minimum charge of £20.00 or €12.50 will be applied. All goods are to be returned with their original packaging and labelling, if appropriate.

Computer software and consumables (CD-Roms and DVDs etc.) can only be returned if the original packaging is unopened and any seals are intact.

Unfortunately we are not able to accept returns on certain products that are made to order or bought in specifically at your request, assembled prior to delivery, or assembled and installed unless they are faulty.

Surcharges

Do the prices displayed include VAT?

All prices quoted are exclusive of any applicable Value Added Tax. The Buyer is required to pay any tax, duty or other government charge levied. All Goods will be supplied at the price and VAT rate ruling on the date of despatch.

What are the surcharges for Hazardous Chemical Delivery?

Any orders containing a product marked ‘Surcharge’ will be subject to a £9.95 Hazardous Chemical Delivery surcharge. Ireland and offshore surcharges are subject to a €25.00 surcharge.

I want to order more than one Chemical, will I pay additional surcharges?

No, the surcharge is per order and not per item. Providing you order all chemicals at once you will only pay one surcharge of £9.95 or €25.00.

 

Purchasing Chemicals

What are the requirements for the purchase of Chemicals?

Professional and Trade account users are welcome to purchase Chemicals once the following items have been provided, via completion of our account application form, and verified by our team.

  • Company registration number
  • VAT number
  • Company cheque or credit card
  • Trade references
  • The reason for the purchase and the use of the substance
  • A named person, along with signature with name and position printed clearly

Once your account is active you will also be required to provide the below:

  • Official purchase order detailing contact name, address and ideally a land line telephone number

Are you able to deliver Chemicals to residential premises?

Due to the hazardous nature of chemicals, we are unable to supply controlled, hazardous or restricted substances or chemicals to private individuals or to residential addresses.

Can I return Chemicals?

Any controlled, hazardous or restricted substances or chemicals which are to be returned to Scientific & Chemical Supplies Ltd or Shaw Scientific, must be approved by a named Customer Services member of staff before returning, and must be sent in accordance with the current legislation for transporting hazardous chemicals. Hazardous chemicals must not be dispatched by the company or customers using the normal postal service. For unwanted Chemicals please also see our Hazardous Chemical Waste Disposal service.

 

Hazardous Chemical Waste Disposal

Can you arrange for the removal of Hazardous Chemical Waste from our premises?

Yes, we employ a specialist team of chemists to pack and label hazardous chemicals ready for removal. Our trained ADR drivers will then transport to a registered waste station.

Will I receive documentation to confirm appropriate removal?

Yes, we will provide full documentation for your peace of mind.

What is the cost of your removal service?

This will depend on the chemical, weight and quantity. Simply complete this form and we will provide a tailored, competitive quotation to meet your needs.

How long does the process take?

SciChem and Shaw Scientific are required by law to advise the Environment Agency five days prior to the collection of Hazardous Chemicals, therefore it will normally take 10 – 14 days from receipt of your order before we can collect and dispose of your waste. We will work with you, to agree the most suitable time and date for your premises.

Do you supply Safety Sheets?

Yes we do, these are available to download from our website and are listed within the product detail.
